Another Missionary Medley

One of the most popular requests I get is for medleys for a missionary farewell or homecoming, and I LOVE it because these songs are always so FUN to write! A while back, I had 2 requests at the same time for the same songs in a medley, but with a very different feel to the arrangement. This first arrangement is very fun and upbeat. It feels a lot like "I hope they call me on a mission" throughout the entire medley, but features some other missionary songs in that fun cowboy style.

This second arrangement features the same songs but has a very different, more flowy feel to it.

I Stand All Amazed Arrangements

I recently had a request for an arrangement of one of my favorite hymns, "I Stand All Amazed." I ended up writing a couple of different versions. The first version is a simple arrangement with a simple obligato featured in the third verse. The second version (this is the version featured in the audio sample below) is a simple arrangement of "I Stand All Amazed" featuring an obligato of  "The Lord Is My Shepherd" and "The Lord is My Light." This song would be perfect for an upcoming Easter Sacrament program, but really would work anytime! Hope it brings the spirit into whatever meeting you choose to use it in!

Welcome!

Just wanted to give a quick introduction of who I am and what this blog is all about! My name is Kim. Mother of 3, homemaker, Latter-Day Saint, special needs momma, music-lover, chocolate enthusiast and most importantly lover of the gospel of Jesus Christ! Most of the arrangements you will find here are either requests I have had from family and friends (and from YOU! Medley, obligato, arrangement requests are ALWAYS welcome!) or inspiration I have found from my own life experiences.

Most of my requests come when people are needing  an arrangement Sunday and its Thursday night :) BELIEVE ME- I understand! I have been asked many times to put together a wonderful, inspiring musical number with very little time to prepare. I am not (unfortunately) saying that all song requests will be completed that quickly! It usually takes about a week (sometimes more depending on life and the difficulty of the request) to get a song arrangement done and sent back to the person requesting.

I am- however proud to say that a lot of the music you will find on here is fairly simple and can usually be learned in a short amount of time! So-if you find yourself (like so many of us do) needing a hymn arrangement for the youth or the ward choir or primary or whoever to learn in a very short amount of time, please take a peek at our "Easy" catergory and hopefully, you will be able to find something that works!
But if you find yourself dreaming of a medley of your loved ones favorite hymns for their farewell or homecoming or baptism or whatever the occasion, please feel free to shoot me an e-mail and explain your request!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
I hope you've felt the peace of the gospel through music!
Have a great day :)

I couldn't help but post this adorable little song. It was written by my eight-year-old at Christmastime. I know Christmas is long past, but I had to post it anyway! It was written as a gift for her grandparents and they loved it :) I hope you all enjoy it as much as they did! And I know my daughter would appreciate any encouraging feedback! Thanks!

Our Hearts Are Filled With Love

My grandma is one of my favorite people. I am so priveleged to have her beautiful example in my life. She recently enlisted my dad and I to help with a little project. She had come up with a melody and some beautiful lyrics, but she needed help making it a complete arrangement. I have been so priveleged and honored to have been a part of this project! This will definitely go down as not only one of my favorite arrangements, but one of my most cherished memories. How blessed I am to have my beautiful grandma in my life and to have this song in my heart, and a special piece of my Grandma's testimony to carry with me always!

Ward Christmas Party Program

I was recently released from my absolute most favorite calling ever- Primary chorister. It was a very SAD day : ( But thank goodness, I got called to serve in the Primary Presidency. I <3 my primary kids so much! I am so glad I still get to see their smiling faces and feel their sweet spirits!
The Primary was asked to put together a program for our ward Christmas party. Having served as Primary chorister for 5 years, I had been responsible for many Christmas programs and wanted to do something a little different this year. This is what we came up with. It is written for one family to act out. We are using all the different auxiliaries to perform the different musical numbers. I am so excited to see how it turns out!

It is about a child who feels she would have liked to have been there in Bethlehem to witness the Savior's birth so she could know for herself if it is true. She then discovers though, that through prayer and faith, she can know today of the truth of the Nativity story,

And of course, I couldn't put together a program without throwing one of my songs in there. This one I actually wrote years ago, but as I was writing the script for the program, I knew it was just what we needed.
